Hiya Spam Blocker works by identifying and blocking known spam numbers. Some calls may still get through because spammers frequently change numbers. Here’s how to maximize your protection.
Enable Hiya Spam Blocker in your phone settings: Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification — make sure the Hiya toggles are ON
Open Hiya Spam Blocker and navigate to the Blocking tab. Set the protection level to your preferred setting to automatically block unwanted calls.
Premium users may also enable Call Screener to screen unknown callers before they reach you (Available in version 10.0+, in U.S. and Canada only at the moment)
Leave the Hiya Spam Blocker app open in the background on your iPhone. This ensures that your app is using the most up-to-date database of spam and fraud numbers.
Remember to block and report new spam numbers. This helps us build the number’s reputation, identify spammers more effectively, and improve our ability to block similar spam calls in the future.
Set Hiya Spam Blocker as your default dialer app: Settings > Apps > Default apps > Phone app > Hiya
Open Hiya Spam Blocker and navigate to the Blocking tab. Set the call blocking settings to your preferred setting to automatically block unwanted calls.

Premium users may also enable Call Screener to screen unknown callers before they reach you (Available in version 15.0.0+, in U.S. and Canada only at the moment)
Leave the Hiya Spam Blocker app open in the background on your device. This ensures that your app is using the most up-to-date database of spam and fraud numbers.
Disable battery optimization for Hiya: Settings > Apps > Hiya > Battery > Unrestricted. This prevents Android from killing the app in the background.
Make sure Phone and Contacts permissions are granted.
Spoofed numbers: Scammers use fake caller IDs that change constantly. Hiya Spam Blocker blocks known spam numbers but can’t catch every spoofed call.
New spam numbers: It takes time for new spam numbers to be reported and added to the database.
Local/neighbor spoofing: Calls that appear to come from your area code are harder to detect automatically.
Always report spam calls in the app — this helps improve protection for everyone.
